There Should be no Homework, Dylan 4-308

I want to tell you why there shouldn’t be no homework ever
There should be no homework because teachers punish us if we don’t do it, even if we have an excuse.
There should be no homework because sometimes we don’t have time to do it.
There should be no homework because sometimes we can’t do it because we have something else to do.
There should be no homework because teachers punish us if we don’t do it,even if we have an excuse,if we don’t have time to do it,and because sometimes we can’t do it because we have something else to do.
After all these reasons don’t you think there should be no homework?

  3. Hmmm. Dylan, I’m not sure I’m ready to do away with homework. Teachers shouldn’t punish you if you have a reason for not doing your homework, but if all you have is an excuse maybe a little punishment is necessary.
Teachers shouldn’t give you too much homework I must agree. Be creative, find time to do your homework. Make it a priority and you will find time for it.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on homework. I always like to know how students feel about things that go on in school. I am sorry that you have such negative feelings about homework, but I don’t think it is going to go away any time soon. Make the best of it.

    Sincerely,
    A teacher from Tennessee.

  4. aredden,
Thanks for your comment. I’ll make sure Dylan has a look when the students return next week.

How did you find us? Do you blog with your students? Are you interested in starting a blog with your kids. If so, perhaps our schools can communicate over the web.

Keep us posted here, or contact me if you’d like to talk further.

  5. I don’t really remember how I found you. I was out exploring the blogosphere and happened upon your blog. I have a few blogs myself, but I don’t have any blogs with kids. I am a reading coach and therefore don’t actually have a class of my very own. I would love to share your blog with the teachers I work with though.

  6. yes i think we shouldnt have homework because what if we have sports or other activites to do after school

  7. Dylan YOU are totally RIGHT!

we shouldn’t have any homework at allll!!!

  8. I’m not entirely sure about this entire “no homework” deal. I am a 8th grade student in Col. Ohio. I agree that we shouldn’t have homework. But you have to think of better reasons. For example… Why can’t we just go over it in class? Instead of doing it at home. We would have the teacher right there to answer any of our Q. and some people learn faster then others so if you don’t understand this stuff then they could help you out and show you how to do it right there. And there is no chance of loosing it. I also understand the pressures of being with friends. You can always miss something that is going on that everyone knows about because of homework. And believe me you do feel like an outcast when that happens… and that isn’t good on a little kids self-esteem. I’m kinda in the middle about homework. But i think that it would be easier to do it in class… or we could have more test… and for the kids that don’t understand it could take homework home and show it to the teacher the next day and if they get it… and get an A on the next test then they don’t need homework because that shows that they know what they are doing.
    Thanks for reading
    Michael
